Halloween arrives early on Islay

The Skills for Work Hospitality and Childcare students on Islay came together in a recent class to create a children's Halloween party buffet.

As part of their course, the Nat 5 Hospitality students are required to complete various table set ups and events, including an assisted and unassisted buffet.

With Halloween fast approaching, the students chose this as their theme, and decided to make it a children's party as they were working with the Childcare students.

The brief on the day was to create finger food appealing to children with a Halloween theme.

The students from both courses worked together to create the party food, and the Hospitality class created a fantastic frightful backdrop for their event.

If you've got wee ones at home and are looking for some Halloween inspiration, here's some of the food they created:

  • Cheese and pretzel broomsticks
  • Satsuma and apple stalk pumpkins
  • Hotdog puff pastry mummies
  • Apple and mini mallow teeth
  • Celery and cream cheese caterpillars
  • Kiwi fruit monsters
  • Fruit kebabs with edible eyes
  • Strawberry 'ghosts' dipped in white chocolate
  • Spider web pretzels with chocolate
  • Spider cookies
