Food for New Hope Kitchen
College supplies food to local charity
Now that we’ve moved to fully online teaching, our learning centres have closed. Our Oban centre has a practical teaching kitchen which supplies our staff and student Canteen.
Being keen to support the local community during the Coronavirus Pandemic, on Friday centre manager, Theresa Bain, gathered stocks no longer required for lessons, and delivered a full car-load of dried goods to New Hope Kitchen, a very well-known charitable organisation in Oban which provides hot meals and food parcels for people on low income or just anyone who needs a bit of company.
‘’I gathered up our supplies of cereals, lentils, tinned goods (beans, tomatoes, apples, etc), tea bags, flour, orange juice, yeast, jellies, sugar, coffee, tomato puree, pasta and condiments and loaded them into a College car.’’ Said Theresa, ‘’I also raided our stationery supplies and put in some coloured paper, pencils, pens, notebooks, stickers, etc to be added to food packs to keep kids entertained.’’
Hope Kitchen were extremely grateful for the help. They were particularly pleased to get pasta (none to be
had in Oban at all!) and also the yeast sachets to enable them to bake their own bread.
