Argyll College Students visit Holyrood

Probably the best way to study politics is to meet a real live politician in his natural habitat.

On March 29, five NC social science students from Argyll College travelled to Holyrood where they toured Scotland's parliament before meeting senior MSP Michael Russell, who represents Argyll and Bute. Also present was Mr Russell's assistant Heather Wolfe, who is the granddaughter of William Wolfe, one of the guiding figures of the modern Scottish National Party.
The students were given generous access to Mr Russell, who answered their questions for more than half an hour. The five women travelled from their respective centres, meeting up at Queen Street station in Glasgow for the final leg of their journey.

They were Amanda MacLeod and Kayti MacKinnon from Oban, Jean McAskill and Suzanne Daly from Dunoon, and Rebecca Lloyd from Helensburgh. Another Helensburgh student, Gillian Batley was unfortunately not able to join the party, but they were accompanied by Lynn Spencer, the mother of the late Katherine Spencer, an enthusiastic member of the NC social sciences class, who very sadly passed away in her sleep earlier in the year. Katherine was looking forward very much to the trip, and so it seemed appropriate that he mother should attend in her place.

Rumours that Mr Russell was led away from Holyrood white and shaking after his Argyll College grilling have not been confirmed.
