FE Student of the year 2018

Islay student, John MacPhee was named as 2018 Further Education Student of the Year. John completed an NC in Computing with Digital Media. His attendance was excellent and he gave everything to each and every task that was presented to him. 

John was unable to attend the ceremony to receive his award so this was collected on his behalf by fellow Islay student Adriana Lamch.

John called at the Islay learning centre to collect his award and said “I would like to thank Mairi and Gordon and all the tutors, it’s  been a great experience,  I preferred learning at college than at  school and has helped me with my confidence to move on to finding a job”

John is now employed with the Islay Wood Recycling Project which is funded by the Climate Challenge Fund and his full job title is a ‘trainee woodworker’ but will be learning about reuse/recycling and environmental protection too.
