Oban Schools Link Student of the Year 2020
Amy Cameron has been named the 2020 Schools Link Student of the Year for the Oban area. Amy has recently completed Argyll College’s Skills for Work Hairdressing course at SCQF level 4.
Tutor Lisa Johnston, who nominated Amy for the award, said, ‘’Amy is a quiet student, but her level of confidence is very much mismatched with her abilities and skills as a trainee hairdresser. Throughout the academic year Amy has consistently produced both written and practical work of the highest standard, she has worked above and beyond the requirements of the course. Amy used her time in class to continue developing her skills, regularly discussing and demonstrating the skills she was learning in her place of work with a passion that shows she will do very well working in the hairdressing industry.’’
Oban High School Head Teacher, Peter Bain said, ‘’I’m very pleased to learn of the award bestowed on Amy by Argyll College. Being awarded the Schools Link Student of the Year is a fitting tribute to her hard work and dedication towards her studies. I’m sure the recognition of her talent and commitment will propel her to further success. It is also fitting to thank her tutor for the support and encouragement provided to achieve such high standards and praise.’’
On receiving the award Amy said, ‘’I’m so thankful that I was able to receive this award, I wouldn’t have been able to do it without my friends from Trinity Hairdressers and my hairdressing tutor Lisa. Thank you very much.’’
