SfW Hospitality students organise Grinch-themed festive lunch
Students on the Skills for Work (SfW) Hospitality course on Islay planned and delivered a festive, Grinch-themed Christmas lunch earlier this month as part of their course.
The lunch catered to 14 guests, including eight students from the Higher Childcare class, Islay High School Head Teacher, Lynn Mitchell, and UHI Argyll Centre Manager, Mairi MacCuaig.
The Hospitality students planned every detail, from budgeting and shopping to cooking and serving. They delivered a delightful two-course meal consisting of a traditional roast dinner with all the trimmings, followed by sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce and vanilla ice cream.
Adding a creative twist, the drinks menu featured Grinch-inspired beverages, including apple bubble tea with strawberry boba balls and an indulgent hot chocolate topped with cream.
This event marked the culmination of all four units of the SfW Hospitality course, incorporating front-of-house service, customer relations, event planning, and working in a professional kitchen.
SfW Hospitality Lecturer, Joanne Hamilton, said:
“The class are an exceptional group of students who have shown a professional willingness to work to a high standard in the planning, preparation, and execution of a very challenging event. I am very impressed with the skills they have shown and the qualities that they possess.”
Congratulations to everyone involved for their hard work and outstanding achievement!
