Gaelic Beginners – Understanding Language

This course will allow you the opportunity to develop basic skills in listening and speaking Gaelic in a relaxed and supportive environment, with a focus on understanding the spoken and written language. It is suitable for beginners, or those with some basic Gaelic skills as a refresher. On successful completion, you will be able to take part in simple conversations and produce simple written text.

The weekly 2-hour classes are taught by a native speaker who has many years of experience in teaching students to unlock the joy of the Gaelic language.

Classes will be delivered online, in a live classroom environment, which you will join from your local centre. You will meet the lecturer and fellow students based across Argyll, Bute and Arran each week for the interactive class. There will be plenty of opportunities to practice your reading, listening and writing skills with the class as a whole, or in smaller groups and pairs.

You will learn the Gaelic language in the context of society, learning, employment and culture, taking you from beginner level to being able to understand and read simple Gaelic with confidence.
